Our Story: Caribbean to Copenhagen
A Story of Coincidences, Opportunities, and Innovation
At Hopp Tech Ltd, our journey began with a chance meeting in the Caribbean and has evolved into a mission to revolutionize data migration. Our story is one of unexpected connections, shared passions, and a relentless pursuit of excellence.
The Beginning: A Meeting in St. Lucia
In 2015, two sailors met at a bar in St. Lucia. Sune was on another trip across the Atlantic with family and friends, while Lars had been living on his boat, working on software for data migration. Both had a background in banking and a keen interest in data and systems. This shared interest led to the birth of Hopp Tech Ltd.
The Birth of Hopp Tech
With a shared vision, Sune and Lars founded Hopp Tech Ltd in England, where Sune lived. The company was built on the software that Lars had spent a decade developing, which was already being used successfully for bank migrations. Their goal was to consolidate and mature this software into a commercially available solution for complex data migrations—a market surprisingly underserved.
Growth and Challenges
Over the years, our solution became available to several customers. The Covid pandemic and life circumstances led to our London office becoming virtual, with team members working from various locations. By 2024, with customers in multiple countries, we decided to establish a strong presence in Denmark, given our Danish roots.
Hopp Tech Today
Now also based in Copenhagen, Hopp Tech Ltd offers software that addresses the major challenge of moving legacy data to new systems and processes. Our solution is essential for implementing larger ERP or business systems across various industries, including banking, business, and process systems like SAP, Fusion, and D365.
Our Mission
Our mission is to spread the knowledge of Hopp Tech in the Nordics and make data migrations easier and more cost-effective for organizations. As Sune Petersen, Director, says, "Our task is now to spread the knowledge of Hopp in the Nordics and contribute to making the task of data migrations easier for organizations that want to do it better and cheaper."
